Roof Water Harvesting

During the monsoon, the raindrops that fall on roofs and on the ground can be gathered to provide good quality of fresh water supply.  In order to save them properly, they have to be diverted towards a particular storage point. The water from the rooftops can be directed towards and opening by providing mild slopes. This opening connected with a PVC pipe will enable the water to flow down a tank or a well.

Run off Water Harvesting * Surface Water Harvesting

Disruption of the natural hydrological cycle due to the reduction of infiltration rate and ground water recharge invariably has increased the surface run off. The volume of the surface run off has been further augmented by rapid urbanization, shrinking of open area, conversion of water bodies for human settlements, obstruction of natural flow of water by construction of elevated roads and streets, paving of open areas by concrete slabs, etc. This large quantity of water, which is otherwise wasted, can be fully utilized for recharge purpose by constructing innovative and cost effective recharge structures like percolation pits.

Open Canal Harvesting * Off Canal Reservior * Storm Water

It is a well-known fact that several seasonal canals are activated only during monsoon period.  These canals provide the outlet for floodwater or surface water. The water flowing through this canal can be used for recharge purposes also before it is fully let out to the rivers or seas.

Recycling and Reuse of Wastewater for Recharge Purposes

The amount of wastewater disposed from domestic sector is growing day-by-day in spite of frequent failure of monsoon. This large quantity of wastewater can be treated and reused for various purposes like Green Belt Maintenance, Irrigation and Recharge Purposes.  Simple and significant biological treatments and Soil Aquifer Treatment Systems (SAT) can be made available to solve this problem.
